New Kids on the Block's Joey McIntyre and the Backstreet Boys' A.J. McLean stopped by Ryan Seacrest's morning radio show today (April 5) to debut their new single and talk about the upcoming NKOTBSB record and tour.
The radio debut of NKOTBSB's 'Don't Turn Out the Lights' was subdued a bit by a leak of the song last week which hit most mainstream media outlets. But that didn't stop McLean and McIntyre from dishing some details about the supergroup's upcoming blockbuster summer tour.
The most important tidbit of information they revealed is that 'American Idol' alum Jordin Sparks will join them on tour as their opening act, but things got really interesting when they started to discuss the relationship between the two legendary boy bands. And it's not as smooth as you may think.
"With nine members there's a lot of testosterone," they admitted, before dropping the news that the two groups will tour in separate buses. A.J. and Joey even quipped they might not speak to each other while on tour, keeping it to a short "Hi, How are you? See you later on," but for now the two insist they're "having a lot of fun."
The two former teen heartthrobs went on to explain some of the "creative ways" they've come together for the NKOTBSB tour, including possible "duets here and there and different things and really just making it an all around amazing show."
'Don't Turn Out the Lights' is the first single from the supergroup's yet-to-be-titled May 24 release, which is said to feature five tracks from each band and new recordings by the combined NKOTBSB. The NKOTBSB tour will kick off on June 2 with confirmed dates running through July 30, for a total of 41 performances so far. You can see their entire tour itinerary here.
